DO YOU (need to) KNOW GOD?

1) What is the most important thing for us to do in this world?
To pray and worship God.

2) In order to praise or worship anyone what must we do before that?
We must know whom we are worshiping i.e., we must know God before we pray to Him.

3) Do we know God?
Yes... but are we sure... Do you know God? Or do you know about God? Do you talk to him? Does He listen? Do you hear back?
Eg do you know George Bush? Or do you just know about him? Does he know you? Does the listen to you? Do you hear back from him?
If any of the answers are NO, then you dont know God.

4) What is the meaning of "To Know God"?

5) Is it possible to not know whom we are worshipping?
Yes the Bible states in few places, that people worship a God that they dont know anything about. In at least 2 places He says we dont know Him. So are we also worshiping God after not knowing him?
John 4:22 (Jesus tells a samaritan that (unlike the Jews) she does not know the god she worships.) You worship what you do not know; we know what we worship...
Act 17:22 (people were worhipping an unknown God which Paul refered to as Jesus.) Paul...said, "Men of Athens, I perceive...you are very religious; 23 for as I was ...considering the objects of your worship, I even found an altar with this inscription: TO THE UNKNOWN GOD. Therefore, the One whom you worship without knowing, Him I proclaim to you:

6) Is it possible for God not to know us? Impossible, God knows all of us.? Isnt it so?
We think God knows all his creations but in few cases he does not want to know us. In at least 2 places He says he does not know us.
Mat 7:21 "Not everyone who says to Me, 'Lord, Lord,' shall enter the kingdom of heaven, but he who does the will of My Father in heaven. 22 Many will say to Me in that day, 'Lord, Lord, have we not prophesied in Your name, cast out demons in Your name, and done many wonders in Your name?' 23 And then I will declare to them, 'I never knew you; depart from Me, you who practice lawlessness!'
Mat 25:12 But he answered and said, 'Assuredly, I say to you, I do not know you.'

7) Ok then what are the conditions to know God?
1-> We can know God by knowing Jesus:-
John 14:7 If you really knew me, you would know my Father as well.
2-> We can know Jesus from the word of God (Bible) by obeying his commandments:-
1 John 2:3 We know that we have come to know him if we obey his commands.
Yes, We can Know God thru knowing Jesus and by knowing the Words of the Bible.

8) Ok so first step is to know about God from the Bible? Why is it so important? How can it help?
1->Spiritual Growth
We grow physically as we eat more and more each year. Similarly we need to eat more spiritual food each year and grow, else if we eat the same amount of food, we will die or shrink. IF YOU ARE NOT GROWING, YOU ARE SHRINKING.
2->We have to know better than the enemy
Since Devil knows Bible well, we need to know Bible more than him to stay safe. In Matt 4:5 Satan quotes Bible verses (Psa 91:11) to Jesus and he returned 2 verses to counter attack. Same way Devil will attach us with Bible and if we dont know the word then we will fail. Fact is Devil knows the Bible by heart.
Matt 4:5 Then the devil took Him up into the holy city, set Him on the pinnacle of the temple, 6 and said to Him, "If You are the Son of God, throw Yourself down. For it is written: "He shall give His angels charge over you," and, "In their hands they shall bear you up, Lest you dash your foot against a stone."
This is actually Psa 91:11. Devil knows the bible, what about you?

CONCLUSION:-
Get to know God, by knowing about him thru Jesus thru the Bible, so that we can be wise and protect ourselves from the tricks of the enemy. First step is to know about Him thru his teachings and commandments in the Bible.
