FIRST SIN
Welcome to the meditation of the first and main concept of the Bible
"The First Sin". At the end of this session you should be able to
understand :-
What is the first sin ?
What is its significance and impact?
Why was the good son Abel killed instead of Cain?
The main concept in
the New Testament is about salvation. The Old Testament highlights about law.
But it was this law that led us to the importance of Christ and salvation. If
we do not know about the law, sin and need of salvation then we cannot
understand the truth about salvation. So we are going to see the first story,
the first point called the First Sin before we talk about the law in the next
session. Jesus came to fulfill the law (Matt 5:17)
GAL
3:24 The Law was our Tutor
to bring us to Christ
GEN 1
Before we read Gen 1:1, we need to read John 1:1 which I feel is the stage before Gen 1:1 took place. The first 3 verses show that there was God, Spirit and Light. But in v15 we see that God created the Sun, Moon and stars later. So the Light created on the first day was Jesus (John 8:12). Thus we see that our God is a triune God.
GEN 1:1 In the beginning God created the heavens and the earth. 2 the Spirit of God was hovering over the face of the waters. 3 God said, “Let there be light”; and there was light. 4 And God saw the light, that it was good; and God divided the light from the darkness.
(Ref 15 let them be
lights in the firmament of the heavens to give light on the earth)
Gen 1:1 Vs John 1:1 = In the beginning was the Word, & the Word was with God, &
the Word was God.
Gen 1:4 Vs John 1:4 = In
Him was life and the
life was the light of men. 5 And the light shines in the
darkness, and the darkness did not comprehend it. 9 That was the true Light which gives light to every man coming into the world
John 8:12
I am the light o the world He who follows Me shall not
walk in darkness but have the light o life
Gen 1:26 God said, “Let Us make man in Our image, according to Our likeness. (Cmp 3:22 One of US)
GEN 2
God could have created man out of nothing, but there is a reason why he created him out of dust. Also, it says twice that God created trees and animals out of the ground. But he blessed man by creating him of a higher level from the ground and animals, with the dust of the ground. This means that we were created good by his breath but also are not perfect since we are out of dust. So eventhougth the spirit is willing, the flesh is weak. This shows us that Jesus gave the holy spirit by his breath. He healed a blind (J 9:6) by applying dust on his which shows he can create sight from dust. When judging a lady (J 8), he was pointing to the dust of the ground to show that we are all dust and imperfect.
GEN 2:7 - God made man from DUST of the ground. 9 Out of the ground trees 19 Out of the ground animal.
(Cmp 1:12 earth bring forth grass
& 24 living creatures
according to its kind)
(Cmp 3:14 eat dust & 19 For dust
you are, And to dust you shall
return)
Rom 4:17 God
gives life to the dead and calls those things which do not exist as though they
did;
Mat 26:41 Spirit is
willing, flesh is week
John 20:22
He breathed on them, and said “Receive the Holy Spirit.
John 8:8
Writes on dust / 9:6 Spit on dust
and heal(Dan 5:5 fingers of human hand wrote on wall)
There were 3 types of trees. The difference between the last 2 trees relates to the difference between Godly wisdom and Worldly wisdom. The tree of life is only repeated twice later in Rev 7 & 22. All its references point to Jesus especially in 3:22 where it says we could live forever thru the tree of life. It also shows that its human to select the wrong thing instead of the right.
Gen 2:9 out of
the ground the LORD God made every tree grow that is pleasant to the sight and
good for food. The tree of life was also in the midst of the garden, and
the tree of the knowledge of good and evil. (Ref 3:22 live forever) John 1:4;3:16;14:6) (Comp Good & Evil Vs Matt

James 3:15 This wisdom
does not descend from above but is earthly, sensual and demonic. 17 But the
wisdom from above is pure, peaceable, gentle, willing to yield, full of mercy
and good fruits, without partiality and hypocrisy.
Rom 7:15 what I am
doing, I dont understand. what
I will to do, that I dont practice; but what I hate,
I do.
Rev 22:2 In the
middle of its street, and on either side of the river, was the tree of life,
which bore twelve fruits, each tree yielding its fruit every month. The
leaves of the tree were for the healing of the nations.

life, which is in the midst of the

who is in the midst of the throne will shepherd them and lead
them to living fountains of waters. And God will wipe away every tear from
their eyes.
Woman was created out of the rib of the man to show that she was for his side not to be on top / below him. It also shows how the church (bride) was born after the blood and water came out of the side of Jesus (groom), Eve was born from the side of Adam.
GEN 2:18 comparable /21 Woman out of Man Rib (Vs Jesus Salvation)
When it talks about leaving the parents to join with the
wife, it means that Jesus wants us to be detached from our culture, ancestors
and come to Christ as shown in Eph 5:30.
GEN 2:23 ‘For this reason a man shall leave his father and mother and be joined to his wife, and the two shall become one flesh’? (Mat 9:15/25) Bridegroom
1 Cor 12:27
you are the body of Christ, and members individually
Eph 5:30
we are members of His body, of His flesh and of His bones. 31 “For this reason a man shall leave his father and
mother and be joined to his wife, and the two shall become one flesh.” 32 This is a great
mystery, but I speak concerning Christ and the church.
GEN 3
The knowledge of evil did lead to death. Since eve sinned, her wages were death. She died spiritually, physically, emotionally and socially. They were not punished directly. The blessing of the tree of life was revoked. The seed is first spoken to Eve and pointing to Jesus (Gal 3:16) as the seed (L 8:11).
GEN 3:4 Surely Die? (2:17 He told Adam not to eat or die). (Rom 6:23
Wages of Sin is death)
The Seed is spoken to eve,
Abraham, Issac & Jacob, which is Jesus.
GEN 3:15 I will put enmity Between you and the woman, And between your seed and her Seed; He shall bruise your head, And you shall bruise His heel.”
Gen 22:18 (Abraham)
/21:12; 26:4(Issac) / 28:14 (Jacob) In thy seed shall all the nations be blessed
Gal 3:16 To Abraham
and his Seed were the promises made. He saith not
"seeds" as of many; but "Seed" as of one, which is Christ.
Luke 8:11
The seed is the word of God (John 1:1) (Rom 1:3/Act 13:23)
We try to hide our sins with leaves but God expects it to be
a covering after he allows an animal to be sacrificed.
GEN 3:7 Fig leaves vs 21 Tunics of
Sin
GEN 3:22 the LORD God said, “Behold, the man has
become like one of Us, to know good and evil. And now,
lest he put out his hand and take also of the tree of life, and eat, and live forever”
GEN 4
Abel was a shepherd similar to Jesus (John 10:11) and also
pleased God with the sacrifice of his firstborn. The firstborn also represents
Christ (Rev 1:5 &
GEN 4:2 Now Abel was a keeper of
sheep, but Cain was a tiller of the ground.
(John 10:11 & Gen 3:17 Cursed is ground)
GEN 4:4 – Abel also brought of
the firstborn of his flock
and of their fat. And the LORD respected Abel and his offering, 5 but He did not respect Cain and his offering. And Cain was
very angry, and his countenance fell
Exo 13:2 Consecrate to me every firstborn
male. The first belongs to me, whether man or animal.
Lev 27:26 the firstborn already belongs to the LORD; whether an ox or sheep, it
is the LORD's
Rev 1:5 Jesus Christ, the faithful witness, the firstborn
God warns Cain and he also warns us sometimes. The death of Abel shows that animal sacrifice did not pay the price of the parents sin, since wages of sin is death (Rom 6:23) and sacrifice of animals cannot pay the price of all sin completely (Heb 10:4). We need to know if we are Cain or Abel. If we are Cain we need to be careful when God warns us, if we are Abel we need to be more careful of being the victim of sin and curse.
GEN 4:7 if you do not do well, sin lies at the door. And its desire
is for you, but you should rule over it. 8 Cain killed Abel 10
God said, “What have you done? The voice of your brother’s blood cries out to Me from the ground. 11 you are cursed from
the earth, which has opened its mouth to receive your brother’s blood from your
hand.
Mat 23:36
on you may come all the righteous blood shed on the earth, from the blood of
righteous Abel to the blood of Zechariah 36
all these things will come upon this generation
Heb 11:4 / 12:24 - to Jesus the Mediator of the new covenant and to the blood
of sprinkling that speaks better things than that of Abel.
Rom 5:12 / 1 Cor
15:22 Thru Adam all sinned
Sin of Abel falls on Cain and the remaining human race. It also shows that God didn’t punish Cain as we would expect, he marks a protection on him but it doesnt mean he was forgiven. The sin only got passed on 7 folds. To Lamech it was 77 fold. We also see that out God thru his Grace and mercy is a forgiving God 70 x 7 (M 18:22)
GEN 4:14 And the LORD said to
him, "Therefore, whoever kills Cain, vengeance shall be taken on him
sevenfold."
24 If Cain shall be avenged sevenfold, Then Lamech seventy-sevenfold."
VS Matt 18:22 Jesus said to him, "I do not say
to you, up to seven times, but up to seventy X seven.

GEN 5
Enoch was the first prophet to speak about Jesus.
GEN 5:24 And Enoch walked with God; and he was not, for God
took him.
Jude 1:14
Enoch, the seventh from Adam, prophesied about these men also, saying, “Behold,
the Lord comes with ten thousands of His saints.
Heb 11:5 By
faith Enoch was taken away so that he did not see death, “and was not found, because God had taken
him”; for before he was taken he had this testimony, that he pleased
God.
GEN 6-9
GEN 6:9 Noah was a just man, perfect in his generations. Noah walked with God.
Since Noah was good his household were
saved. So if we believe in Jesus out household will be saved. It also shows
that God cleansed the sin of man and earth with water. So the water baptism
does help us clean ourselves from sin making one holy, cleansing by the
washing with water through the word (Eph 5:25).
GEN 7:1 Come into the ark, you and all your household, because I have seen that you are righteous before Me in this generation
Act 16:31 Believe on
the Lord Jesus Christ, and you will be saved, you and your household.”
Here God shows that blood is life. So if wages of sin is
death or loss of life. Shedding of blood is shedding life as a price for the
sin of death. Noah curses his and the Canaanites are cursed even during the
time of Jesus where a Canaanite woman was not healed immediately.
GEN 9:4 But you shall not eat flesh with its life, that is, its blood
20:27 Cursed be Cannan. (Ref: Matt 15:21)
1 Pet 3:20
in the days of Noah...only a few people...were saved through water, 21and this water symbolizes baptism that now saves you also...
GEN 11
Our God is not pleased when men try to unite for themselves and their
benefit and ego. God scattered them. This shows that unity does not apply in
all cases unless it gives God and his work glory. That is why all the men of
God in the bible worked alone with God. It also shows that persecution led to
scattering of believers for the spreading of the gospel. The efforts
of Islam contradicts with its unification of many people under one
language and religion.
1
the whole earth had one language and one speech. 2
found a plain and dwelt there. 3 Then they said “Come,
let us make bricks” 4 “Come, let us build ourselves
a city, and a tower whose top is in the heavens; let us make a name
for ourselves, lest we be scattered abroad over the face of the whole
earth.”
6 LORD said, “Indeed the people are one and they
all have one language, and this is what they begin to do 7
Come, let Us go down and
there confuse their language, that they may not understand one another’s
speech.”
Acts 8:1
great persecution arose against the church … they were all scattered throughout
the regions, except the apostles. 4
those who were scattered went everywhere preaching the word.
