DESTRUCTION - PAST, PRESENT & FUTURE

God had punished mankind by sending mass destruction 3 times in the PAST as mentioned in the old testament during the time of 1) Flooding water during the time of Noah, 2) Rain of fire and brimstone in Sodom & Gomorrah AND 3) Plagues
Let us see how it relates to the PRESENT Grace period (Gospels) and also the FUTURE (Revelations).

PAST
1 Flooding Water
God destroyed all mankind due to their wickedness in completion with their children and animals except for Noahs family and a pair of all animals.
Gen 6:17 I am bringing floodwaters on the earth, to destroy from under heaven all flesh in which is the breath of life; everything that is on the earth shall die.
7:21 all flesh died that moved on the earth...22 in whose nostrils was the breath of the spirit of life...died.

2 Destroying Fire/Brimstone and Salt
God destroyed all inhabitants of Sodom and Gomorrah due to their wickedness in completion with their children except for Lot and his family.
Gen 19:24 the LORD rained brimstone and fire on Sodom and Gomorrah...26 his wife looked back, and became a pillar of salt.

3 Turning Water to Blood
God punished Egypt since the Pharoah did not let the Hebrew go from slavery, He sent 10 plagues out of which the first one is turning water to blood. Blood denotes death (Deut 12:23)
Exo 7:20 Moses and Aaron did so, just as the LORD commanded. he lifted up the rod and struck the waters that were in the river...And all the waters that were in the river were turned to blood. 21 The fish that were in the river died, the river stank, and the Egyptians could not drink the water of the river. So there was blood throughout all the land of Egypt.

As we can see God gave severe punishment in all 3 times to wicked men and their children and animals without exceptions. We can see that God was harsh and so was the punishment with flood, fire and blood.

PRESENT
1 Living/Cleansing Water
God destroyed mankind with flooding the earth with water that entered the heart and lead to death. In the present, in contrast, Jesus gifts living water that flows out of the heart into everlasting life. People are baptised in the water from sins (Mat 3/John 1). There is not a killing water but a living water and cleansing water.
John 4:14Jesus: whoever drinks of the water that I shall give him will never thirst... will become in him a fountain of water springing up into everlasting life..
John 7:37If anyone thirsts, let him come to Me and drink. 38...out of his heart will flow rivers of living water.

2 Baptising Fire and Seasoning Salt
God destroyed Sodom and Gomorrah with fire and turned Lots wife into salt, but in the present Jesus baptizes us with the Holy Spirit and Fire. There is not a killing fire but a baptising fire. Also salt is later given a seasoning and gracefull use.
Mat 3:11Jesus will baptize you with the Holy Spirit and fire.
Mat 5:13You are the salt of the earth; but if the salt loses its flavor, how shall it be seasoned?
Col 4:6Let your speech always be with grace, seasoned with salt.

3 Turning Water to Wine
God changed water to blood in Egypt which meant punishment and death. In contrast in the present Jesus changes water to wine as he is the vine. Here the blood of the grapes gives nourishment and vitality.
John 2:7 waterpots with water...9 was made wine. 15:1 I am the vine. (Gen 49:11/Deut 32:14)

As we can see instead of giving severe punishment with flooding water, destroying fire or bloody water, Jesus brings us in the period of Grace with living/cleansing water, baptising fire and wine. But this Grace period is not for ever.

FUTURE
1 No Water
Gen 8:21 - God does not destroy mankind with water anymore. At the end of the grace period there is no baptising water, but only punishing hell fire and all water changes to wormwood and blood (Rev 8:10). There may be no rain (Rev 11:6)

2 Punishing Fire and Brimstone
The gospels warn about separation of the wicked for punishment into fire (Mat 3:12/13:30). And as mentioned there is punishment of fire and brimstone in many references for the wicked and also the devil/beast/anti-christ (Rev 19:20/20:10)
Rev 9:18 By three plagues a third of mankind was killed—by the fire and the smoke and the brimstone which came out of their mouths.
Rev 14:10 he himself shall also drink of the wine of the wrath of God, ...He shall be tormented with fire and brimstone...
Rev 21:8 The cowardly, unbelieving, abominable, murderers, sexually immoral, sorcerers, idolaters, and all liars shall have their part in the lake which burns with fire and brimstone...

3 Turning Water to Blood
No more wine, water is changed to blood, the plagues have returned and more than once. Just like the first plage in Egypt, the bloddy rivers stink and fishes die.
Rev 8:8 The second angel sounded: And something like a great mountain burning with fire was thrown into the sea, and a third of the sea became blood. 9 And a third of the living creatures in the sea died, and a third of the ships were destroyed.
Rev 11:6my two witnesses have power to shut heaven, so that no rain falls in the days of their prophecy; and they have power over waters to turn them to blood...
Rev 16:3the second angel poured out his bowl on the sea, and it became blood as of a dead man; and every living creature in the sea died. 4 the third angel poured out his bowl on the rivers and springs of water, and they became blood

CONCLUSION :- Our punishing God of the old testament later had Grace and Mercy on mankind due to His love for us, but only for the Grace period and borrowed time that we are living in now. We are close to the end times where a much more severe punishment and deadly repeated plagues will return more than once. The unrighteous and wicked will be thrown into the fire and brimstone and water will turn to blood and evil creatures will harm the ones that are not taken in the rapture. Hence let us fear the Lord and obey his commandments and do His will. As children of God and with mercy and Grace, he will deliver us from the tribulations and persecutions with a rapture. Let us continuously prepare ourself for the end times and try to save others from this fiery end.
