News from Bengali Mission: April 28, 2005

Dear Friends:

Greetings from Bengali Mission!

We have decided to update you quarterly so that it will be easier for you to uphold us in your prayer. We are grateful to all of you for your prayer support and partnership in the gospel from the first day until now. By God’s grace and with your encouragement we are able to carry out the Mission which the Lord entrusted on us.

Following are some news for praise and prayer:

Praise!

January 8, 2005 is the most important day in the history of Bengali Mission in Boston.

On that day Boston Bangla Church (BBC) the first Bengali Church in New England area was started with the worship service in Bengali at the fellowship hall of Cambridgeport Baptist Church, 459 Putnam Avenue, Cambridge. We appreciate Pastor Dan Szatkowski for encouraging us with his challenging message. Since then we have been meeting for our Bengali worship service in every Wednesday from 11 am to 12.30 pm at CBC building. We are thankful to CBC for allowing us to have our meeting over there.

On March 26 with the collaboration of South Asian Fellowship we organized an Easter celebration in Mendon. Our main purpose was to invite our non Christian friends (Muslim and Hindu) for sharing the Easter message with them. Out of twenty eight, nineteen were non Christians and for the first time they were excited to hear the Gospel.

We are having a small group in Lynn. Since March, 2005 the group has been meeting on every Monday for Bible study and our dear brother Abu Mansur has been leading the group. Mansur is a good disciple of Jesus Christ helping us voluntarily in that area. Elizabeth and I go there at least twice a month to encourage him.

Bengali people are showing more interest to study the Bible. They are borrowing Bibles from public libraries. In next month we are going to place Bibles and other Christian literature at two more public libraries. One of them is in New Orleans.

  4. More faithful prayer partners and by the end of 2005 one house Church in Lynn.

Yours in His service,
