Dear Praying Friends,
Since I wrote our last newsletter in July, 2007 many things have happened in our family and the Ministry. Following are some updates:
FAMILY UPDATE
My wife Elizabeth has been suffering with severe arthritis pain. As we don’t have a car, we are spending much of our time on public transportation. During the winter time it’s very hard for her to travel around with me. But in the midst of this trouble we as a whole family are grateful to God for His abundant grace upon us.
MINISTRY UPDATE
On August 5th we had a nice prayer walk at Rindge Towers, Rindge Avenue, Cambridge. This place has the highest concentration of the Bengali people group in Boston. We appreciate our prayer warriors from Vineyard Church to come along with us. We are thankful to Cambridge Vineyard Fellowship and Market Street Baptist Church for their partnership and support from the beginning of this year. We hope other churches in New England will follow their example to come along with us. We can’t do this work alone. We are planning to arrange our next intercultural get-together meeting at the community hall of Rindge Towers on December 15th (3- 5 pm) which will be our Christmas gathering with our Muslim and Hindu friends.
On September 22 our Interfaith Dialogue with Hindus went well at Hope International Church in Waltham. This year our theme was Karma of Hinduism and the Grace of Jesus. We give all praise and honor to God for this successful event. 62 people attended the meeting. The majority of them were Christians but seven of them were Hindus including two panel members. We are thankful to all panel members for their good job. For the first time many Christians came to know about the Hindu world views and at the same time we were able to share our faith and the whole Gospel openly to our Hindu friends. We are thankful to Pastor Paul Reid and Hope International Church to work as a team and for hosting this meeting. After the meeting people gave their thoughtful feedback and we had a nice time of fellowship. More follow up works are ahead of us.
In the last month Elizabeth and I went to North Carolina to speak at several churches, Pastors Conference, senior adults meeting and to lead the training seminars on witnessing to Muslims/Hindus/Buddhists. We believe that through these meetings God opened the hearts and minds of the people of the South for understanding world views of other religious groups in North America and challenged them for witnessing to these people who are coming to this country. We appreciate Rev. David Phelps, Director of Missions and the Atlantic Baptist Association for inviting us. On October 4-6, I had an opportunity to attend the Muslim Evangelism Consultation meeting organized by North American Mission Board at South Western Theological Seminary, Fort Worth, Texas. It was a great meeting and I had an opportunity to meet with many scholars and missionaries who are working among Muslims in North America. I presented a paper about Philosophy of Muslim Evangelism in North America.
Our Lynn outreach Bible study group is meeting regularly twice a month. We are glad that Abu Mansur and his family returned back to Lynn and will be leading the group again. Pray that the Holy Spirit will touch the hearts of our seekers over there and they will have a real experience with the Lord Jesus. Boston Bangla Church is meeting two Saturdays (2nd & 4th) every month at Cambridgeport Baptist Church, Cambridge, 11 am- 12.30 pm. Keep in mind that our service is both in English and Bengali. As our main sponsoring church we are thankful to CBC for allowing us to use this great facility. Beginning this fall we are meeting in Brighton twice a month for home Bible study. We are planning to have a seminar on witnessing to our Muslim neighbors at the First Baptist Church, Manchester, Connecticut, on December 2nd and a meeting with our Muslim background seekers over there on December 3rd.
Once again I thank you all for your support and encouragement. 13,000 Bengalis in New England can not be forgotten by the churches as they are the most unreached people group in the USA. Let us join our hands together for the sake of God’s Kingdom.
SPECIAL PRAYER REQUESTS:
Yours in the service for His
Kingdom,
